Privacy Policy
How BF Bond collects, uses, protects, and shares the information you give us when you request a quote or apply for a surety bond.
Effective August 13, 2026. This version replaces all earlier ones.
The short version
This summary is here for convenience. The full policy below is what actually governs.
- We collect what you enter on our bond applications and contact forms, plus basic analytics about how the site is used.
- We use it to quote, underwrite, issue, and service surety bonds, and to answer your questions.
- We share it with the surety carriers that evaluate your application and the vendors that help us operate. We do not sell it.
- We keep it for as long as the bond and our recordkeeping obligations require, then delete it.
- You can ask what we hold, correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@bfbond.com.
Who we are
BF Bond is the trade name of Bernard Fleischer & Sons Inc., a licensed insurance and surety bond agency at 29 Broadway, Suite 1511, New York, NY 10006. We have been placing surety bonds since 1949.
This policy applies to bfbond.com and to the quote requests and bond applications submitted through it. It does not govern what a surety carrier does with your information after we forward an application to them. Each carrier operates under its own privacy notice.
What we collect
Information you give us
Surety underwriting asks for detail, and our application forms reflect that. Depending on which bond you apply for, we may collect:
- Identity and contact details: name, email address, telephone number, home and business address, and occupation.
- Business details: entity type, years in business, trade or industry specialty, owner names and addresses, ownership percentages, and where a bond requires them, professional identifiers such as NPI and PTAN numbers.
- Financial information: contract values, work on hand, bank credit lines, estate assets and liabilities, residence value and mortgage balance, benefit plan assets, and the coverage limits you request.
- Underwriting history: prior surety claims, bankruptcies, litigation, tax liens, collections, licensing actions, and any bond previously declined or cancelled.
- Matter details: court and case information, estate and heir information, vehicle year, make, model and VIN, and the name and telephone number of any attorney representing you.
- Documents you upload: financial statements, court filings, benefit plan documents, proof of ownership, and certificates of insurance.
We ask for this because a surety carrier cannot evaluate a bond without it. Our website forms do not ask for your Social Security number or your date of birth. If a particular carrier requires either one, we will collect it from you directly and tell you why.
Applications you save and finish later
Several of our applications let you save your progress and come back to them. When you use that feature, the answers you have already entered are stored on our server before you submit anything, which means we may be holding a partly finished application even if you never send it. If you want a saved application removed, email us and we will delete it.
Information collected automatically
When you browse the site we receive your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, the pages you visit, the date and time of your visit, how long you spend on a page, and the page that referred you to us.
How we use it
- Preparing quotes and premium indications, including the results our online calculators return.
- Submitting your application to one or more surety carriers for underwriting.
- Issuing, servicing, renewing, amending, and cancelling bonds.
- Verifying the information you have given us.
- Answering your questions and providing customer service.
- Meeting the recordkeeping, licensing, and reporting obligations that apply to a licensed insurance agency.
- Detecting and preventing fraud and misuse of the site.
- Sending you information about our services, which you can stop at any time.
- Understanding how the site is used so that we can improve it.
Who we share it with
- Surety carriers and underwriters. This is the main reason we collect your information. Carriers decide whether to write the bond and on what terms, and they handle your information under their own privacy notices.
- Obligees and courts, where the bond has to be filed with them.
- Service providers who help us operate, including website hosting, email delivery, form and document software, electronic signature, analytics, and payment processing. They may use your information only to provide those services to us.
- Professional advisors such as attorneys, accountants, and auditors.
- Regulators, law enforcement, and other authorities where we are required to respond, including subpoenas and other lawful requests.
- A buyer or successor, if the agency is sold, merged, or reorganized.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not disclose it to anyone for their own independent marketing purposes.
Credit and underwriting checks
Surety is credit driven. Carriers commonly review credit history, public records, and background information when deciding whether to issue a bond and at what rate. By submitting an application through this site you are asking us to forward it to carriers for exactly that purpose.
Those carriers obtain and use consumer report information under their own authority. If a carrier declines your application or offers different terms because of something in a consumer report, the notices required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act come from that carrier.
Nonpublic personal information
A licensed insurance agency is a financial institution under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and most of what you provide on a bond application is nonpublic personal information under that law.
We limit access to it to the people who need it to do their work, we require our service providers to protect it, and we disclose it only as described in this policy and as the Act permits. We do not disclose nonpublic personal information about former customers except where the law allows.
How we protect it
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, consistent with the reasonable security requirements of the New York SHIELD Act. The site is served over an encrypted connection, uploaded documents are held on access-controlled systems, and access is limited to staff who need it to do their work.
When we ask you for documents, we send you a personal upload link. It expires, we can withdraw it at any time, and it only lets you send documents to us. It cannot be used to open anything already sent. Please do not forward it. If you think it has reached the wrong person, call us at (800) 921-1008 and we will withdraw it and issue a new one.
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee that information sent over the internet will never be intercepted, and we ask you to help by not sending confidential material through channels that were not built for it.
Please do not email confidential information
Ordinary email is not encrypted and can be read in transit. Do not send financial statements, account numbers, or other confidential material to us by email. Use the application forms on this site, which submit over an encrypted connection, or call us at (800) 921-1008 and we will arrange a secure method. We will not send confidential information about you by ordinary email either.
How long we keep it
- Completed applications and bond records are kept for the life of the bond and afterward for as long as insurance and tax recordkeeping rules require.
- Saved but unsubmitted applications are kept until you complete them or ask us to remove them.
- Email delivery logs are kept for 14 days.
- Website analytics are retained according to the settings on our Google Analytics property.
When we no longer need information we delete it or remove whatever identifies you.
Your choices and rights
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
- Ask us to delete information we are no longer required to keep.
- Withdraw an application that has not yet been placed with a carrier.
- Stop marketing email using the unsubscribe link or by writing to us.
- Control cookies through your browser settings.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under state privacy law. Note that information we hold as a financial institution under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act is exempt from several of those state laws. Where an exemption applies we will still consider any reasonable request.
To make a request, email info@bfbond.com or write to us at the address at the bottom of this page. We may need to verify who you are before we act, particularly where bond, court, or estate records are involved.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files a website places on your device. We and the services we use set the following kinds:
- Essential cookies that make the site work and keep form submissions secure.
- Preference cookies that remember your progress when you save an application.
- Google Analytics, which tells us how the site is used.
- Google Ads conversion tracking, which tells us whether an advertisement led to an enquiry and may set advertising cookies.
- Our live chat widget, which loads when you open it and processes the messages you type there.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser, though parts of the site may then stop working. To opt out of Google Analytics you can install Google’s browser opt-out add-on, and advertising preferences can be managed in your Google account settings.
Children
This site is meant for businesses and for adults transacting surety business. It is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Other sites we link to
We link to courts, licensing boards, obligees, and carriers as a convenience. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Read their policies before giving them information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top changes when we do, and the current version is always the one posted here. If a change materially affects how we handle your information we will say so prominently on the site. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
